Vintage Jewelry, Furniture and Collectibles Baldini Auction Company, LLC is pleased to announce the opening of a new auction for the Houston D. McGinness Trust. We have over 150 Stunning Vintage Jewelry lots, along with furniture and very eclectic collectibles. Mr. McGinness was an aeronautical engineer, who worked for Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for 40 years. He was involved in the construction of an antennae device that tracks space probes, and holds/held a patent for the device. Mr. McGinness was also a gifted amateur photographer, a nature lover, hunter and hiker as you can see from some of the photographs included in the auction. He loved Tennessee, and always planned to retire here. He was very interested in family and local history. Interestingly, he was the great-grandson of a Revolutionary War soldier, who received a land grant in what is now Putnam County. Upon retirement in 1995, he and his wife returned to Tennessee. His wife was born in Los Angeles. She lived with her grandmother and aunts in New York State for a time as a child, but returned to L.A. as a pre-teen. She was a nurse and a perpetual student. She was interested in eastern religions and philosophies and studied many different languages. She and her husband mingled with several actors and actresses during the fifties. As a matter of fact, Mr. McGinness and Clark Gable competed and won a skeet shooting competition together. The auction is open now and will close on Wednesday, March 1st beginning at 2:00pm CT. There are many interesting items in this auction, so please come by on inspection day, which will be held on Monday, February 27th. This auction closed on March 1st, 2017. |

Baldini Auction Company, LLC is pleased to bring you an auction of important Confederate Militaria from the private collection of Cal Turner, III. In size and scope this collection is an enthusiast’s dream. Some buttons in this auction are so rare there are less than five known to be in existence. There are also some notable and incredibly rare belt plates, some of which are the actual plates found in Steve Mullinax’s Book of Confederate Belt Buckles and Plates. The star of the auction is most certainly the 1861 NC Tredegar Bronze 6-Pounder Cannon. This cannon is the rarest item in the auction, as it is the only bronze Confederate North Carolina surcharged cannon in private hands today. There is only one such other surviving cannon in existence, which is now part of the National Park Service’s collection at Shiloh National Military Park. This auction may be the last opportunity for collectors to have the chance to bid on and own an important piece of Civil War history. All collectors will one day ultimately face a decision about the future of and possible disposition of their goods. Mr. Turner decided to offer his private lifetime collection to other individuals using the unique auction platform. He wanted to present these items to everyone on a level playing field and sell them with as much excitement and energy as he felt discovering each piece of the collection. This auction will serve as a gauge for future collectors to use to measure the condition, authenticity, provenance and historical significance of future memorabilia long after the auction has ended. Collector's catalog available. Call 615-490-6849.

"Bob Dylan: Unscripted" Portfolio by Douglas R. Gilbert - Edition One of Only Fifteen Ever Made Baldini Auction Company, LLC is elated to be offering this extremely rare, silk spun Portfolio containing ten silver gelatin photos depicting a young Bob Dylan around his home in Woodstock, New York in 1964. The Portfolio is numbered "Edition One of Fifteen", which means this is the very first Portfolio. It doesn't get any more rare than that. Each photograph is individually signed and numbered by renowned photographer Douglas R. Gilbert. These photographs were taken by Gilbert on assignment for LOOK Magazine, and each image offers a glimpse of Dylan in a personal and private atmosphere that is rarely seen. I was lucky enough to have a conversation with Mr. Gilbert, and when asked to describe this rare Portfolio he said, "We decided to offer a limited edition of a select group of photographs in a specially designed box and offer it for sale. Fifteen copies of the ten photographs selected were printed and matted for the box set. Print size is slightly smaller than 11 x 14 inch prints and will keep the fifteen printed unique. These particular prints were chosen because I felt they were representative of the kinds of activities and home life that are in the complete exhibition." In 2006, this Portfolio was valued at $10K. Be sure to read my latest Auctionville Blog if you want to learn more about this Portfolio and the interesting 2006 Grammy Awards story of how our seller came to own it. Also, visit www.douglasrgilbert.com for more information on photographer Douglas R. Gilbert. |
